World Diabetes Day
Every November 14th is World Diabetes Day (WDD). The theme of this year's World Diabetes Day is "Education to protect tomorrow". In 2021, the prevalence of diabetes among Chinese people aged 20-79 will reach 10.6%. People with diabetes need ongoing education about their condition and effective self-care, which is critical to staying healthy and avoiding complications.
At present, Chinese diabetes patients are mainly type 2 diabetes. For diabetic patients, if blood sugar rises rapidly in a short period of time, it may cause acute complications, such as hyperosmolar coma, ketoacidosis, etc., which can be life-threatening in severe cases.
In daily life, we must do a good job in the health management of diabetes, emphasizing the "five-carriage" as the standard measures, that is, control of healthy diet, reasonable exercise, drug control, blood sugar monitoring and knowledge education. It is necessary to pay attention to all aspects of life, adopt comprehensive and all-round blood sugar health management measures, and achieve the goal of diabetes management
Balanced nutrition: Adhere to eating less and more meals, reduce the intake of animal fat and cholesterol-rich foods, and it is recommended that the daily sugar intake of diabetic patients does not exceed 50% of the total calories.
Live a regular life and maintain a good living condition.
Physical exercise: The recommended type of exercise is mainly aerobic exercise, such as running, cycling, and swimming, which are very effective for lowering blood lipids and controlling weight. It should be noted that if the condition is more serious, high-intensity exercise should be reduced or avoided, and patients with heart and kidney disease at the same time should adjust their exercise strategies according to their actual physical conditions.
Monitoring blood sugar: Monitor blood sugar closely. Self-monitoring of blood sugar at home is recommended, 3 times a week, and 4 times a day to monitor fingertip blood sugar, including fasting and 2 hours after three meals.
